Before I give you the juicy nugget can we take 👏🏻 a 👏🏻 moment 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 people 👏🏻 watching 🎉

Especially amongst theatre goers who are far more eclectic than other crowds!

Like the woman reading a book and getting her blood red lipstick all over the magnum icecream she was devouring with delight. Sexy!

Or the woman telling a friend where the different materials had come from on the patchwork dress she’d created. Handmade QUEEN!

Or the woman in heels with the crisp voice using words like ‘portfolio’ and ‘next project’. Badass businesswoman a little on edge in this crowd - I celebrate you!

Or the woman aggressively attacking the small chips packet she was sharing with her partner. Go get ‘em tiger 💪🏼

Or the four friends taking a group selfie after an obviously boozy pre-show lunch. Your giggles made me giggle!

And the woman with a hunched back, who moved slowly into her seat who had the body of an eighty year old and the hair of a twenty-something - I’m inspired!

And those uni students, bra free (and deodorant free, I presumed as they walked past) embracing a piece of feminist art that will expand their minds and help grow them into even more powerful forces than they already are - I cheer you on!

Or the woman with the bright blue hair and Hawthorn footy scarf, sitting in her wheelchair like a boss making friends on either side of the aisle - the most social woman in the room!

And the woman cleaning her ‘inside glasses’ so she can remove her prescription sunglasses which won’t be helpful once the lights dim. Her cleavage was the stuff of legends!

Or the woman with the severe fringe and bun, and very black thick-rimmed glasses that made her silver hair look striking and dignified AF.

All of them so utterly amazing.

Women at the theatre being their fabulous selves.

Hallelujah for THAT!

I guess I’m one of them. Here on my own living the life that I get to choose.

And the reason I love it is not just the people watching it’s the chance to be totally PRESENT to the art.

I think I feel it more when I’m solo.

And also… I love that I can be my own best company.

What a gift.

Doing this liberates me. A little more every time.
Is your industry about to experience a shake-up?? Is your industry about to experience a shake-up??

I heard a business leader say this week that there’ll be billions of AI influencers in a few years - all primed for the algorithm and we won’t be able to tell who is real and who isn’t.

That’ll certainly disrupt mine!

I feel lucky to be an ideas person who thinks creatively and has entrepreneurial knowledge - handy skills to have cultivated.

I’m spending a lot of time right now thinking about leadership, and the absolutely critical skill of finding steady in a storm. Even if it’s just to lead your own family.

So many of us middle-aged women have dialled that in. It’s an asset to us. Even if your job/career is secure, many people around you will be disrupted over the coming years.

It’s a crazy moment in time.

Listen to Conversations with Lisa now ❤️
It’s not helpful to put your hands up and say “not me”. It denies the reality that AI is reconfiguring life as we know it.

YES it’s scary.
YES it’s an environmental disaster.
YES it’s problematic on a million levels.

But it’s here.

And so what?

Why does it upset some of us?

Perhaps because WE VALUE HUMANS AND CONNECTING WITH EACH OTHER!

WE VALUE CREATIVITY AND HUMAN INGENUITY!

WE VALUE AUTHENTIC VOICES AND MESSY UNPOLISHED IMAGES OF THE REALITY OF LIVING.

So how are you showing up for that now? Are you living your life aligned to that? Are you celebrating human-ness?

Do you seek out connection over scrolling?
Do you attend live events are support artists?
Do you buy what the real people showing up using their real voices are selling and support their work?

In five years so much will have changed. But we don’t have to lose each other - it’s a choice we are literally already making everyday.

You can choose not to use chat bots. Doesn’t mean you don’t already, in a stack of ways, participate in AI.

Let’s make life about what we truly value. AI is here and it’s only going to get crazier - but everyday you can get your hands dirty in your garden, walk your neighbourhood with a friend, put a pot of soup on for your family on a Sunday and sit around the table and slurp it messily together.

Choose that!
Boooooooys! They’re the best. And also - where t Boooooooys! They’re the best. And also - where they at?!

I’m researching for a poddy interview I’m doing on Friday about ‘our boys at This Moment in Time’ and I’d love to know two things:

1. What do you worry about for your boy?
2. What’s he worried about?

My son came home the other day and shared that he was chatting to two of the ‘smartest’ (they are getting great grades) boys in the class about the subjects they are going to pick for Year 10 and one of them said he’s not going to go to uni, instead he wants to learn how to be a carpenter because “AI won’t be able to build and repair houses for a while”.

He’ll choose the pathway for VCE that gets him there.

They are FIFTEEN and are trying to plan for a future that they can’t fully envision.

Because it doesn’t exist but they know it’s coming fast.

What the heck 🤯

I can’t wait to discuss our boys with the awesome @mikey.ellis. I’ll be picking his brain on what they REALLY need right now.

And the role of parents to facilitate it.

But in order to bring you the juiciest convo I’d love to hear from you with any reflections you have about our beautiful boys right now.

Thank youuuuuuuu 🙏
