Oh man, I am just not meant for this! I can’t remember the moves!

She really wants me to be good at this. She’s always teaching me the dances but ends up massively frustrated that I just can’t get it together 😂

Ahhhh it’s fun anyway. She’s nine and I love that she still wants to do stuff with me.

I’ll (badly!) learn the dances for as long as you want me to, daughter of mine. And I will treasure these moments of silliness and play and hope like heck that we are doing this for a lifetime ❤️❤️

Was Sunday sport always a thing but my family in the 80’s and 90’s just didn’t play it??

I have no memory of it.

And I don’t like that it’s a thing!

When did it start? And why? Is there just too much sport to get done on one day?

(I mean - it’s super if team sport participation is going up in Australia - I am not begrudging that or the fact my kids want to be involved.)

But we’ve started soccer on Sundays in our family as my son has moved into U14s, and to be honest, it feels a bit annoying.

Sure, I had a late night last night and I might be a bit grumpier than usual.

And OK I had a great time sitting in the Melbourne autumn sun this afternoon with a fabulous bunch of parents…

BUT STILL!!!

I value a day of no extra-curriculars on the weekend. I value a rest day!

What say you?

There’s no medals for doing it the hard way ❤️

If there is a path through that is softer on your heart or takes pressure off or make things feel lighter - choose it.

As a widow raising three kids I am constantly reminding myself that there’s no rewards for making this harder than it already is.

My cleaners, who come weekly, are the best investment I make.
I ask for help now, instead of always ‘soldiering on’.
I drop balls, lower standards, let myself off the hook.
I focus on what matters at the time.
I prioritise my own well-being - five hours a week for me.

There’s no medals for doing life harder than we need to. Take the shortcut! Take a load off! Make it easier whenever you can ❤️
